12 Buses Impounded in Rohtak for Rule Violations

Sep 6, 2025 | Haryana

Following reports of negligence by private school operators, the RTA department in Rohtak conducted a massive checking drive today to ensure the safety of students. The operation targeted buses that were plying on the roads without basic security features.

  • Major Violations: Out of several dozen vehicles checked, 12 buses were found to be in gross violation of safety norms. These buses lacked functional CCTV cameras, which are mandatory for monitoring students. More importantly, many of these vehicles were operating with expired fitness certificates, making them legally unfit to be on the road.

  • Lack of Safety Gear: Inspectors also noted that some buses did not have working GPS systems, first-aid kits, or fire extinguishers. In a few cases, the buses were missing the mandatory female attendants required for the safety of girl students.

  • Strict Action: The impounded buses were taken to the local police lines. RTA officials stated that the permits of these schools could be suspended if they fail to rectify these issues immediately. Heavy fines were also issued to the schools involved.

  • Message to Schools: “We cannot wait for an accident to happen. Every school bus must have a fitness certificate and working cameras. Schools that ignore these rules are playing with the lives of children,” said a senior transport official during the drive.
