Gangster Bhagwanpuria Seeks High Court Protection, Citing Threat from Rival Gangs

CHANDIGARH – Notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, seeking directions for the state to provide comprehensive security coverage during his time in prison, police custody, and transit.

Bhagwanpuria’s petition is based on the fear of “extreme” chances of elimination, either in a fake encounter or an attack by rival gangsters. He specifically named Dilpreet Baba, Lawrence Bishnoi, Neeta Deol, and Gurpreet Sekhon as the “self-proclaimed rivals” posing a threat to his life.

The gangster has made specific requests to the court, including directing the state and police respondents to:

  • Ensure he is kept in an area having CCTV coverage with full video-recording facilities.
  • Issue directions to the police to handcuff and shackle him during custody or transit from a police station to a court or any other location.

In his plea, he argued that the exceptional haste shown by the state police in his case—even while interrogating him in an Assam jail—points to a “larger conspiracy, possibly aimed at targeting and eliminating him.” Bhagwanpuria maintains he is simply praying for protection from potential elimination by either law enforcement or rival syndicates.
