Following a surge in complaints from farmers regarding substandard agricultural inputs, the Chief Minister’s Flying Squad conducted surprise raids on fertilizer and pesticide shops in the Jind district this week. The operation, carried out in the Pillukhera area, has exposed significant irregularities in stock management and documentation, becoming a major talking point in the state’s agricultural belt.
🕵️♂️ The Operation: Pillukhera Under Scanner Acting on secret intelligence and farmer tips about the sale of “fake” and low-quality seeds, a joint team comprising the CM Flying Squad, Duty Magistrate, and Agriculture Department officials raided four major establishments:
-
Deshwal Pesticides
-
Attri Seed Store
-
Dev Deshwal Pesticides
-
Suraj Pesticides
📉 ** irregularities Unearthed** The inspection revealed a stark contrast between the physical stock present in the godowns and the digital records maintained in the Point of Sale (POS) machines.
-
Stock Mismatch: Officials found discrepancies where the physical inventory of urea and DAP did not match the government records, raising suspicions of black marketing or off-book sales.
-
Documentation Fail: Two of the raided shops, Deshwal Pesticides and Dev Deshwal Pesticides, failed to produce the necessary operational documents and stock registers during the inspection.
🚫 Strict Action: License Suspensions Taking a zero-tolerance stance, the Agriculture Department officials accompanying the squad have recommended the immediate suspension and cancellation of licenses for the two non-compliant shops. “We received reports that farmers were being sold inferior quality pesticides which were damaging crops in the Narwana and Pillukhera regions. These raids are just the beginning,” stated a squad official.
Farmers’ Reaction The crackdown has been welcomed by local farmer unions, who have long alleged that unscrupulous dealers were creating artificial shortages and selling spurious products during the critical sowing season.
