12th State Open Senior Athletics Meet Begins in Kurukshetra

The sporting spirit of Haryana reached a high today as the 12th State Open Senior Athletics Championship opened to a packed stadium in Kurukshetra. The event was inaugurated with a colorful march past, followed by intense competitions in various track and field disciplines.

A significant majority of participants have come from rural sports nurseries and village-level training centers, showcasing the deep-rooted athletic culture in Haryana.

  • Selection for Nationals: The Haryana Athletics Association clarified that the gold and silver medalists from this meet will earn a direct spot in the Haryana squad for the National Open Athletics Championship scheduled to be held in Bengaluru later this month.

The talent coming from our villages is truly world-class,” said a senior technical official at the stadium.
