Haryana Announces 100% Interest Waiver on Property Tax Until October 31

Sep 25, 2025 | Haryana

In a move aimed at boosting municipal revenue while providing significant relief to taxpayers, the Haryana government has unveiled a comprehensive interest subvention scheme for property tax.

  • The Waiver Details: Under the new directive, any property owner who has defaulted on tax payments since 2010-11 can now settle their accounts without paying a single rupee in interest. Typically, late payments attract an interest rate of 1.5% per month, which often results in the interest exceeding the actual tax amount over several years.

  • Deadlines and Eligibility:

    • Deadline: The scheme is valid until October 31, 2024.

    • Scope: Applicable to all 22 districts, including major hubs like Gurugram, Faridabad, and Panchkula.

    • Condition: To avail of the waiver and an additional 15% rebate on the principal, owners must self-certify their property details on the NDC portal (ulbhryndc.org).

  • The “Property ID” Push: The Urban Local Bodies Minister noted that the state has successfully generated unique Property IDs for nearly all urban units. This waiver is seen as a “final opportunity” for residents to correct discrepancies in their data and update their records without the fear of heavy penalties.

  • Revenue Goals: The government expects to recover nearly ₹2,000 crore in stuck principal tax through this window. The funds collected will be redirected toward urban infrastructure projects, including road repairs and waste management systems in newly regularized colonies.
