Hisar Police Bust Exam Cheating Gang Selling “Bluetooth Vests”

In a major crackdown on the “copying mafia,” Hisar police have exposed a sophisticated technological operation designed to compromise the integrity of the state’s merit-based recruitment system.

  • The Modus Operandi: The gang manufactured custom-tailored vests that featured a concealed Bluetooth module and a SIM card slot integrated into the stitching. These were paired with micro-earpieces (smaller than a grain of rice) that are virtually invisible once inserted into the ear canal. The candidate would wear the vest under their shirt, and an accomplice outside the center would dictate answers over a phone call.

  • The Arrests: The four arrested suspects include a technical expert who allegedly sourced the components from electronic markets in Delhi and a “middleman” who scouted for desperate candidates. Police have seized 12 Bluetooth vests, 20 micro-earpieces, and multiple mobile phones containing lists of potential “clients.”

  • Bypassing Security: Investigators noted that the wiring in the vests was made of non-metallic fibers or very thin copper to evade handheld metal detectors used at exam gates. “This gang was using technology that is increasingly difficult to detect without advanced body scanners,” said a senior Hisar police official.

  • Wider Investigation: Hisar police are now coordinating with the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) to identify any candidates who may have already purchased these devices. Bank accounts associated with the gang are being frozen, and further raids are expected in neighboring districts.

Community Sentiment

“It is heartbreaking for honest students who study day and night. While the police did a great job catching this gang, it makes us wonder how many people have already cleared exams using such tricks. We need even stricter checking at every center to ensure that only merit wins,” said a competitive exam aspirant from Hisar.
