In a significant relief for the farming community, the scarcity of DAP fertilizer, which had dominated headlines for the past three weeks, has officially ended.
-
Supply Chain Success: The turnaround follows the arrival of over 15 specialized rakes of DAP at various rail-heads across Haryana in the last 72 hours. This surge in supply was strategically distributed to districts like Bhiwani, Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad, where the demand was highest.
-
Direct-to-Society Delivery: The government implemented a “Direct-from-Rake” delivery model, bypassing intermediate warehouses to ensure that fertilizer reached the village-level cooperative societies within hours of arrival. “We have transitioned from managing a shortage to managing a surplus in some pockets,” a HAFED official noted.
-
Ending the Black Market: The normalization of supply has also crushed the black market. Previously, reports of DAP being sold at inflated prices in the private sector were common; however, with cooperatives now having full racks, private dealers have been forced to align with official rates.
-
Digital Monitoring: The Fertilizer Monitoring System (FMS) now shows “Green” for almost all blocks in the state. Farmers are being encouraged to purchase only what they immediately need, as the state has secured enough stock for the entire month of December as well.
