Mahendragarh district administration has intensified its battle against the mining mafia. In a sustained 70-day operation, the police and Mining Department have registered 32 FIRs and impounded 58 vehicles used for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Operational Highlights The intensive drive focused on sensitive zones where unauthorized stone and sand mining was prevalent.
-
Seizures: The 58 impounded vehicles primarily include heavy-duty dumpers, JCB machines, and tractor-trolleys. Authorities confirmed that these vehicles were operating without the mandatory e-ravana (transit passes).
-
Law Enforcement: The 32 FIRs have been lodged under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for theft and environmental violations.
-
Revenue Recovery: Significant penalties have been levied on the owners of the seized machinery, contributing to the state’s recovery of environmental compensation.
Strategic Measures To curb the menace, the district police have established permanent checkpoints at border entry points and utilized night-patrolling teams. The administration has also warned that repeat offenders will face the permanent cancellation of their commercial driving licenses and vehicle registrations.
Local officials noted that this crackdown is part of a broader state-wide mission to protect the Aravali mountain range from ecological degradation. Residents have been encouraged to use the dedicated helpline to report illegal crushing activities in their vicinity.
