Kurukshetra Police Arrest Two for Stealing 200 Rare Antique Utensils

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA-2) of the Kurukshetra Police has arrested two individuals for the theft of a massive collection of antique and heritage utensils. The accused, identified as Rajat and Yogesh (residents of Khanpur Koliyan), were nabbed for stealing nearly 200 rare items from a warehouse at ‘Virasat’, a heritage hotel project near Masana village.

The Theft & Complaint

  • The Incident: The theft was reported on January 8 by Maha Singh, a Director at Kurukshetra University who is developing the heritage property. He discovered that a large number of antique vessels—collected from various parts of the country over years—were missing from the site’s warehouse.

  • The Collection: The stolen items included copper, brass, and bronze utensils estimated to be between 75 and 300 years old. Reports suggest the collection was worth approximately ₹20 lakh and included Mughal-era pitchers, heavy brass vessels, and ceremonial items intended to showcase Haryanvi culture.

Police Action

  • Investigation: Following the registration of an FIR at the Thanesar Sadar police station, the case was handed over to the CIA-2 unit led by Inspector Mohan Lal.

  • Arrest & Recovery: Acting on intelligence, the team arrested Rajat and Yogesh on January 20. During interrogation, the police successfully recovered the entire haul of 200 stolen utensils from their possession.

  • Status: The accused were produced before a local court, which has remanded them to judicial custody.
