Haryana: 4,179 Road Accident Victims Availed Cashless Treatment in 2025

Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Ajay Singhal revealed on Friday that 4,179 road accident victims in the state received timely medical aid under the Cashless Free Treatment Scheme during the year 2025. The scheme, implemented by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, ensures that victims receive immediate care without financial hurdles.

Scheme Details

  • Benefits: Each injured person is entitled to cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh per accident.

  • Duration: The benefit covers a maximum period of seven days from the date of the accident.

  • Network: To ensure effective implementation, the state has empanelled 1,228 hospitals (government and private) across Haryana.

  • Process: Upon arrival at an empanelled hospital, the management uploads the victim’s details onto a designated software and informs the local police station to initiate formalities under Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Road Safety Measures Additional Director General of Police (Traffic & Highways) Hardeep Doon provided further insights into the state’s safety initiatives:

  • Black Spots: Between 2020 and 2024, 339 black spots (accident-prone areas) were identified. Of these, 109 have been rectified, while work is ongoing on the others.

  • School Bus Safety: Under the Safe School Vehicle Policy, the police inspected 26,931 school buses in 2025. This drive resulted in 5,909 challans for violations and the impounding of four buses.

  • Traffic Calming: Out of 2,378 locations identified for traffic calming measures, 1,228 were rectified by December 2025. Additionally, 411 illegal road cuts (out of 600 identified) have been closed.
