In a strict enforcement of discipline and dress code, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Hardeep Singh Doon suspended a police official on the spot after finding him wearing “juttis” (traditional footwear) instead of the prescribed uniform shoes. The incident occurred on Friday during an inspection at the Police Lines in Jhajjar, where the ADGP had arrived to review law and order preparedness.
Visibly irked by the lack of professionalism, ADGP Doon reprimanded the officer in front of the gathered personnel. “What is this nonsense? How did you come here wearing juttis and a jacket? This does not happen here. This is the police department, not animal husbandry,” he remarked before ordering the official’s immediate suspension.
The ADGP did not stop at the junior official; he also summoned the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Dr. Pranav, and admonished him for the lapse in supervision. “You are a gazetted officer, behave like one. Shouldn’t you ensure that personnel report in proper uniform? Dressing appropriately is mandatory in the police,” Doon told the ACP.
Later speaking to the media, ADGP Doon emphasized that the police is a disciplined force where the uniform is a matter of pride. He explained that his visit was part of a statewide initiative directed by DGP Ajay Singhal, under which senior officers are inspecting districts to ensure compliance with headquarters’ directives. During the visit, he also reviewed the functioning of Dial-112 and instructed Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure maximum CCTV coverage in their areas to aid crime investigation.
