Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Civic Body Passes ₹273.38 Crore Budget for 2026-27

The Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) has officially approved a budget of ₹273.38 crore for the financial year 2026-27. The budget, passed during a special house meeting on Monday, reflects a ₹10.43 crore increase over the previous year’s allocation, with a heavy emphasis on urban infrastructure, sanitation, and waste management.

Financial Overview The meeting was chaired by Mayor Suman Bahamani, with the presence of Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner Preeti, and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar.

  • Total Income Target: ₹273.38 crore (up from ₹262.95 crore in 2025-26).

  • Total Expenditure Estimate: ₹272.92 crore (up from ₹262.72 crore).

  • Revenue Collection: As of January 2026, the MC has already generated ₹214.92 crore from property tax, rent, and fees.

Development and Sanitation Focus Of the total budget, ₹124.37 crore has been specifically earmarked for the core areas of city development and cleanliness:

  • Infrastructure (₹90.35 crore): This fund will be utilized for the construction and repair of streets, community centers, and municipal buildings.

  • Sanitation & Waste (₹34.02 crore): Allocated for door-to-door garbage collection, maintenance of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) centers, and the upkeep of the municipal vehicle fleet.

  • Fixed Costs: A significant portion of the expenditure—₹108.25 crore—is dedicated to salaries, pensions, and related employee benefits.

Strategic Targets The corporation has maintained a revenue target of ₹37 crore from property, fire, and municipal taxes, similar to the previous year. To bolster the twin cities’ growth, Mayor Suman Bahamani urged councillors and officials to maintain close coordination to ensure the effective and transparent utilization of these funds.
