In a display of cutting-edge forensics, the Jhajjar Police have successfully solved a sensational firing case in Bahadurgarh by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Social Media Intelligence. Within 24 hours of the incident, officials arrested two key suspects whose unique digital and physical footprints led investigators straight to their hideout.
The Indiscriminate Firing The incident occurred on Saturday night when a Swift car pulled up outside a private school in Bahadurgarh. The school belongs to Rakesh Coach, a BJP leader and Haryana Olympic Association vice-president. CCTV footage captured two attackers stepping out: one firing nine rounds with pistols in both hands, while the other recorded the crime on his mobile phone to spread panic.
The Digital Breakthrough The case was initially a “blind” mystery until the Crime Branch utilized technology to enhance the evidence:
-
AI Enhancement: AI software was used to clarify grainy CCTV images. A crucial detail emerged—multi-colored (red-black-yellow) threads tied on the hand of the shooter.
-
Social Media Matching: Detectives cross-referenced this detail with recent photographs on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. The same threads were visible on the profiles of local suspects, providing the definitive lead.
The Arrests & Confession Acting on this intelligence, the police apprehended the main shooter, Satender of Bahadurgarh, and his accomplice Deepender (alias Deepu) near Rohtak. A third suspect remains at large.
-
The Motive: During interrogation, Satender claimed the attack was fueled by personal enmity and heavy intoxication. He alleged that the school owner had previously molested his wife, and the firing was intended to “instil fear” rather than cause physical harm. DCP (Crime) Amit Dahiya confirmed that there was no link to organized gang wars.
Administrative Impact The swift resolution has been lauded as a milestone for the district police. Simultaneously, the state government has reinforced this focus on efficiency by setting up a High-Level Monitoring Committee led by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. This panel, which includes Additional Principal Secretary Saket Kumar, will use tools like the HEWP Portal to monitor and fast-track major state projects, ensuring that both law enforcement and development move at an accelerated pace.
