Anil Vij Announces 357 New AC Electric Buses at Republic Day Function in Yamunanagar

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij has announced a significant upgrade to the state’s public transport infrastructure, confirming the induction of 357 new AC electric buses. The announcement was made while he addressed the gathering after unfurling the National Flag at the 77th district-level Republic Day function in Yamunanagar.

Fleet Expansion & Modernisation

Minister Vij outlined the state government’s roadmap for modernising the Haryana Roadways fleet:

  • New E-Buses: Approval has been granted for 357 AC electric buses, which will soon join the fleet to provide eco-friendly and comfortable travel.

  • Fleet Growth: The total bus fleet of the state transport department is set to increase from the current 4,500 to 5,300 buses.

  • PM E-Bus Service: Under the central government’s ‘PM E-Bus Service Project’, an additional 450 electric buses will be operationalised across 10 cities in the state.

Energy Sector Achievements

Highlighting the state’s progress in the power sector, Vij shared key statistics:

  • 24-Hour Supply: Under the ‘Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon’ scheme, 6,019 villages in Haryana are now receiving 24-hour power supply.

  • Reduced Losses: Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses have been successfully reduced from 30.3% to 9.97%.

  • New Projects: He mentioned that the foundation stone for an 800 MW ultra super-critical thermal power unit at Yamunanagar was laid in April 2025. Additionally, new 800 MW power plants are proposed for Panipat and Khedar (Hisar).

  • Solar Push: Under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, 37,308 rooftop solar systems have been installed so far, with subsidies ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹78,000.

Tribute to Martyrs

Before his address, the Minister visited the Shaheedi Memorial at the Police Lines to pay homage to the martyrs. He noted that the memorial being built at Ambala Cantonment for the martyrs of the 1857 First War of Independence is in its final stages and will attract visitors nationwide due to the new Ambala airstrip.
