The stage is set for a high-decibel legislative face-off as the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) today carved out the roadmap for the brief but crucial Winter Session of the Haryana Assembly.
-
The Schedule: The committee has officially approved a three-day session.
-
Day 1 (Dec 18): Obituaries followed by the introduction of various bills.
-
Day 2 (Dec 19): Legislative business and discussion on the Supplementary Estimates.
-
Day 3 (Dec 22/Final Day): Question hour, passing of bills, and private members’ business. (Note: The session will have a break over the weekend).
-
-
Key Agenda Items: The primary focus will be the passage of the Haryana Control of Organized Crime (HCOC) Bill, which was recently approved by the Cabinet. Other likely discussions include the status of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and the recent digital initiatives in the agriculture sector.
-
Political Posturing: During the BAC meeting, the opposition leaders demanded a longer session, arguing that three days are insufficient to discuss the “burning issues” of the state. However, the treasury benches maintained that the decided duration is adequate for the planned legislative business.
-
Question Hour: Over 300 questions (starred and unstarred) have been submitted by MLAs across party lines. The Speaker has assured that priority will be given to issues of public importance, particularly those related to rural infrastructure and healthcare.
-
Security & Arrangements: Security around the Vidhan Sabha complex has been tightened ahead of the session. The Speaker also reviewed the digital readiness of the “e-Vidhan” system to ensure a paperless and efficient session.
