Tensions are rising in the Dhani Laxman village of Bhiwani district as the local panchayat has issued a stern demand to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to disclose its findings regarding the mysterious death of a schoolteacher. The victim, identified as Manisha, was found dead in the fields near Singhani village on August 13, 2025, two days after she went missing.
A village-level panchayat, attended by Manisha’s family members and village elders, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation. The case, which was initially registered by the local police as a murder, was later controversially termed a “suicide,” a theory the villagers vehemently rejected. Following public outcry, the Haryana government transferred the case to the CBI, which visited the site on September 3, 2025. However, nearly five months later, the agency has yet to make its findings public.
Sanjay Kumar, the victim’s father, addressed the gathering, stating that the panchayat had previously set a deadline of January 31 for the CBI to reveal the facts, but the agency failed to do so. Consequently, the panchayat has decided to escalate the matter. An 11-member committee has been constituted to meet Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to press for an immediate disclosure of the probe report. The villagers have warned that the delay is denying closure to the family and fueling unrest in the community.
