On the eve of the Haryana Assembly’s Winter Session, the BJP Legislative Party held a high-stakes meeting to solidify its defense against the No-Confidence Motion moved by the opposition Congress.
-
Strategic Huddle: Chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the meeting saw the participation of almost all party MLAs and senior cabinet ministers. The primary objective was to ensure a united front and prepare a data-backed rebuttal to the allegations of the opposition regarding unemployment and law and order.
-
Whip Issued: To ensure 100% attendance during the critical hours of the session, the party has issued a three-line whip to all its legislators, making it mandatory for them to be present in the House and vote in favor of the government.
-
Counter-Attack Plan: Sources indicate that the BJP has decided to turn the tables on Congress by highlighting the “development disparity” during previous regimes. The Chief Minister has reportedly instructed ministers to be ready with comprehensive dossiers on the “Haryana Control of Organized Crime (HCOC) Bill” and the recent “Hansi District” declaration as major achievements to showcase during the debate.
-
Internal Coordination: The meeting also addressed minor grievances within the legislative party to ensure there are no “cross-voting” risks. Special focus was given to independent MLAs supporting the government, who were also invited for a separate coordination dinner.
-
Opposition’s Stance: The Congress, led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has maintained that the government has “lost the moral right to rule” and intends to corner the treasury benches on the issue of farmers’ compensation and the Agnipath scheme.
-
Speaker’s Role: With the No-Confidence Motion looming, the first day of the session (tomorrow) is expected to be stormy. The Speaker will decide on the admissibility of the motion and the timing for the debate after the obituary references.
