Sirsa Police’s war on drugs reached a major milestone today as they neutralized a key link in the regional heroin supply network.
-
The Operation: Following a week of electronic surveillance, the CIA-1 team of Sirsa laid a trap near a checkpoint. When the suspect’s vehicle arrived, he attempted to flee by reversing at high speed but was cornered by police vehicles.
-
The Ingenious Hiding Spot: A primary search of the vehicle was unsuccessful. However, noticing a slight rattling sound in the driver-side door, the CIA officials used mechanical tools to open the door’s upholstery. Inside, they found two vacuum-sealed packets of white powder. Field testing confirmed it to be pure heroin.
-
The Suspect: The arrested individual has been identified as a resident of a neighboring state who has been on the radar of various agencies for months. Preliminary interrogation suggests that the “Chitta” was sourced from a major cartel in Delhi and was meant for distribution among small-scale peddlers in Sirsa, Fatehabad, and parts of Mansa (Punjab).
-
Legal Action: A case under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act has been registered. The police have also seized the vehicle used for smuggling and are now working to identify the local “receivers” who were in contact with the supplier.
