CM Inaugurates ₹5.50 Crore Synthetic Hockey Ground at Kurukshetra University

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art synthetic hockey ground at the Kurukshetra University Sports Complex. The facility, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹5.50 crore, is part of the central government’s Khelo India Scheme.

  • Inauguration: The CM, accompanied by Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam, officially opened the hockey turf. To mark the occasion, both leaders picked up hockey sticks and played a few strokes on the new ground.

  • New Foundation Stone: During the same event, CM Saini also laid the foundation stone for an all-weather swimming pool, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹8 crore under the same scheme.

  • Infrastructure Details: Vice-Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva revealed that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports had allocated a total budget of ₹10 crore to the university. Of this, ₹5.50 crore was spent on the hockey ground, while the remaining ₹4.50 crore is earmarked for a multipurpose indoor sports hall.

CM’s Vision Addressing the gathering, CM Saini emphasized the state’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure to help athletes excel on the global stage.
