CM Saini Orders Swift ₹5 Lakh Compensation for Gohana Accident Victims

Nov 2, 2025 | Haryana

In the wake of a harrowing 10-vehicle pile-up near Gohana that sent shockwaves through the state, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has stepped in with a comprehensive relief package aimed at providing immediate financial and medical sanctuary to the victims.

  • Immediate Financial Aid: Recognizing the sudden financial void created for the families of the deceased, the CM utilized his discretionary powers to release ₹5 lakh per family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He instructed the Deputy Commissioners of Sonipat and Rohtak to ensure the disbursement is completed within 72 hours.

  • Cashless Medical Care: Leveraging the state’s 2025 digital health infrastructure, the CM ensured that all injured commuters are treated under the Cashless Treatment Scheme. This entitles victims to up to ₹1.5 lakh in free emergency care for the first seven days at any of the 1,228 empanelled government or private hospitals, including BPS Medical College, Khanpur Kalan.

  • Administrative Accountability: While announcing the compensation, the CM also ordered a technical audit of the highway stretch. He directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and state transport officials to install enhanced reflective tapes and “fog-safe” blinkers at critical junctions to prevent such tragedies in the future.

  • Political Response: The move has temporarily dampened the criticism from opposition parties regarding highway safety. Local leaders noted that the “swiftness of the order” reflects a more proactive stance toward rural and commuter safety compared to previous years.

Community Sentiment

“Usually, compensation files gather dust for months in the Secretariat. Seeing the CM announce it on the same day the accident happened gives us a sense that someone is actually watching over us. No amount of money brings back a life, but this ₹5 lakh will help the children of those who died to stay in school,” said a village elder from the Gohana cluster.
