The health authorities in Nuh are on high alert today following a major outbreak of dengue across several blocks. The reporting of 45 cases in a single day has pushed the health department to declare a “Red Alert” to prevent an epidemic-like situation.

Sudden Spike: While cases were appearing slowly over the last week, the sudden jump to 45 cases on Sunday has caused serious concern. Most of these cases have been reported from rural areas where stagnant rainwater after recent spells has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
-
Health Department Action: Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Nuh has directed all Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers (PHCs) to reserve special beds for dengue patients. “We have deployed 20 rapid response teams to the hotspots to check for larvae and ensure immediate treatment for those with high fever,” an official stated.
-
Source Reduction: Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBCs) are going door-to-door in affected villages. They are putting oil in stagnant water and asking residents to empty water coolers and pots. Notices are also being issued to house owners where mosquito larvae are found.
-
Public Advice: The department has advised people to wear full-sleeved clothes and use mosquito nets. Hospitals have been stocked with extra bottles of IV fluids and essential medicines to handle the increasing number of patients.
Current Status: The health department is closely monitoring the situation. Out of the 45 new cases, 10 patients with low platelet counts have been admitted to the district hospital, while others are being treated in local clinics.
