DSR Subsidy Deadline Ends Today for Haryana Farmers

Jul 10, 2025 | Haryana

July 10, 2025, marked the final deadline for farmers in Haryana to apply for the state government’s subsidy on Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) machines. The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department had previously set this date as the last opportunity for ensuring financial support for purchasing these water-saving agricultural implements.

Last Call for 50% Subsidy

The scheme, which has been aggressively promoted to combat the state’s groundwater crisis, offers farmers a subsidy of 50% of the machine’s cost or a maximum of ₹40,000, whichever is lower. Farmers who failed to register their applications on the official portal agri-haryana.gov.in by the end of the day risk missing out on this significant financial aid for the current Kharif season.

The subsidy is provided on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, making the closing hours of the deadline critical for those who had yet to finalize their paperwork.

💧 Push for Sustainable Farming

The DSR technique is a cornerstone of the Haryana government’s strategy to move away from the traditional, water-guzzling method of paddy transplantation. By subsidizing the machinery required for direct seeding, the state aims to:

  • Conserve Groundwater: DSR significantly reduces the water required for rice cultivation.

  • Reduce Labour Costs: The mechanized process lowers dependency on manual labor.

  • Improve Soil Health: It aids in better crop residue management and soil texture.

With the deadline now effectively closed, the department will proceed to verify applications and disburse the subsidy amounts to the eligible beneficiaries’ bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
