The iconic blue-and-white fleet of Haryana Roadways is officially getting a high-tech, green makeover. The arrival of the first 50 electric AC buses today marks the beginning of a new era for commuters who have long awaited more comfortable and eco-friendly inter-city travel options.

Deployment Strategy: Unlike previous smaller trials, this batch is specifically designed for inter-city connectivity. Initial routes will focus on high-traffic corridors such as Gurugram-Delhi, Faridabad-Chandigarh, and Karnal-Panchkula.

The Kilometer Scheme: The buses are being operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The private partner provides the buses and drivers, while Haryana Roadways provides the conductors and manages route scheduling and fare collection. The state pays the operator a fixed rate of approximately ₹62 per kilometer.

Charging Infrastructure: Specialized charging “pits” have been inaugurated at the Gurugram and Faridabad depots, capable of fast-charging a bus to 80% in under two hours.
