Foundation Stone Laid for ₹560 Crore Healthcare Hub In Jind

Sep 13, 2025 | Haryana

The residents of Jind celebrated a historic day as the district’s first major government medical institution transitioned from a long-awaited promise to a reality. The project, named after the revered saint Sant Dhanna Bhagat, is poised to become the healthcare lifeline for central Haryana.

  • Project Infrastructure: The medical college is being built using a multi-story design to optimize the 24-acre site in Haibatpur. It will feature:

    • Clinical Facilities: A state-of-the-art 750-bed teaching hospital, including an ICU, trauma center, and advanced diagnostic labs.

    • Educational Blocks: Academic wings for 100 annual MBBS students, residential hostels for girls and boys, and a nursing college.

    • Residential Complex: Housing for faculty, senior residents, and non-teaching staff to ensure 24/7 medical availability.

  • Economic & Healthcare Impact: Currently, patients from Jind often have to travel to PGIMS Rohtak or private hospitals in Delhi for specialized treatment. This college will provide local access to super-specialty services. Furthermore, it is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the district.

  • Timeline and Execution: The construction tender was previously awarded to Larsen & Toubro (L&T). While some initial work on the boundary walls and site clearing had begun, today’s ceremony marked the official commencement of the main building blocks. The government aims to make the OPD services operational within the next two years.

  • Strategic Vision: This is part of the state’s broader healthcare policy. From only six medical colleges in 2014, Haryana is rapidly expanding its network, with similar projects currently under construction in Kaithal, Sirsa, and Yamunanagar.
