The banks of the Brahma Sarovar became a center of spiritual authority today as the Sant Sammelan issued a roadmap for social and environmental reform based on Vedic principles.

The Gathering: Presided over by leading figures of various Akharas and spiritual organizations, the sammelan emphasized that the Gita’s message is inseparable from the protection of ‘Dharini’ (Earth) and ‘Gau’ (Cow).

The Cow Protection Resolution: The saints unanimously demanded that the “Gau Mata” be given a special status at the national level. They called for the conversion of barren panchayat lands into self-sustaining Gaushalas (cow shelters) to solve the stray cattle menace in a compassionate way. “The cow is the pillar of our rural economy and spiritual heritage; her protection is the protection of India,” stated a senior Mahant.

River Cleaning Pledge: Highlighting the deteriorating health of India’s water bodies, the congregation passed a resolution to involve religious ashrams in the “Clean River” mission. They proposed that spiritual centers located near rivers should take responsibility for the cleanliness of their local ghats and educate pilgrims against water pollution.

Global Gita Message: The sammelan also discussed expanding the International Gita Mahotsav’s reach to more countries, proposing that 2026 be celebrated as the “Year of Universal Harmony” through the teachings of Lord Krishna.
