In a move that promises to redefine the landscape of the Kaithal district, the Haryana Town and Country Planning Department has unveiled the Draft Development Plan-2041 for the Guhla-Cheeka urban area. The ambitious master plan projects the creation of 18 organized sectors, transforming this border town into a hub of modern residential and commercial activity over the next 15 years.
The Vision for 2041 The development plan is designed to accommodate a projected population surge and aims to provide structured urban growth. Currently known primarily for its rice mills and proximity to the Punjab border, Guhla-Cheeka will see a shift toward a multi-functional urban center.
-
Sectoral Distribution: Out of the 18 proposed sectors, a majority will be dedicated to residential housing, while specific zones have been carved out for commercial centers, industrial estates, and public utilities.
-
Educational & Health Hubs: The plan includes dedicated spaces for high-tier educational institutions and multi-specialty hospitals to serve the local and surrounding rural population.
Key Infrastructure Highlights
-
Connectivity: The plan outlines the widening of existing roads and the creation of new sector-dividing roads to ensure seamless traffic flow. It also focuses on improving connectivity to the Patiala-Kaithal highway.
-
Green Spaces: A significant percentage of the land has been reserved for “Green Belts” and public parks to ensure sustainable urban living.
-
Industrial Zone: Recognizing the existing industrial base, the plan proposes a dedicated sector for non-polluting industries and agro-processing units, which is expected to generate thousands of local jobs.
Economic Impact The announcement has already sparked interest among real estate developers and investors. “Guhla-Cheeka has remained underdeveloped compared to other Haryana towns. This master plan provides the legal framework for organized colonies and shopping complexes, which will boost property values and local trade,” stated a local urban planning expert.
Public Suggestions & Objections The Haryana government has placed the Draft Development Plan in the public domain for 30 days. Residents and stakeholders of the Guhla-Cheeka region are encouraged to submit their suggestions or objections to the District Town Planner (DTP) before the plan is finalized and sent for the Chief Minister’s approval.
