Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh chaired a high-level review meeting on Saturday to assess the progress of the Bandhwari landfill site, issuing strict directives to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to expedite the disposal of legacy waste. The Minister set a firm deadline, instructing officials to ensure that the site is cleared of its massive waste piles by February 2027.

During the meeting, MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya informed the Minister that under a fresh tender, the scientific processing of over 16.80 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste is scheduled to commence by the end of February 2026. “The target is to complete the processing of this waste within a year, effectively by February 2027. We are enhancing processing capacity with additional machinery and infrastructure to meet this goal,” Dahiya stated.

Rao Inderjit Singh also reviewed the legal status of the dispute with the former concessionaire, Ecogreen Energy Private Limited. Officials apprised him that the matter is currently in arbitration, with the next hearing scheduled for February 16, 2026. The Minister emphasized that the legal battle should not hinder the on-ground waste management work and directed that waste from Faridabad should no longer be dumped at the Bandhwari site, a move aimed at reducing the load on the facility.

Beyond waste management, the review covered broader civic issues. The Minister directed departments to conduct a detailed survey of encroachments on natural drainage channels within one month and initiate strict enforcement action. He also reviewed the progress of the Rao Birendra Singh Sports Stadium in Wazirabad, directing officials to complete all pending works by the extended deadline of January 2027.
