HARIDWAR, UTTARAKHAND – The Haridwar-Dehradun rail route has been completely blocked after a major landslide occurred on the Mansa Devi hills near the city’s Har Ki Pauri on Monday. The incident, which saw large boulders fall onto the railway track, has disrupted the movement of over a dozen trains, including the Vande Bharat Express.

The landslide took place near the Kali temple in Bhimgoda. According to local officials, heavy rainfall in the area has caused cracks in the Mansa Devi hills, leading to the soil and rocks giving way. A nearby Shiva temple also collapsed in the landslide. This is the second time in recent days that a landslide has affected this crucial railway route.

Despite the installation of an iron net between the hill and the track as a safety measure, large rocks were able to break through and cause significant obstruction. A railway team has been deployed to the site to clear the debris, a task that is expected to take around 8-10 hours. The movement of all trains on the route has been suspended until the track is fully cleared and deemed safe.

The incident highlights the growing challenges faced by railway authorities in the region during the monsoon season, particularly in areas with hilly terrain. Officials are working to restore the rail service as quickly as possible while ensuring the safety of passengers.
