Haryana: Child Labour Accused Arrested After Search of 200 Villages

Haryana Police has successfully apprehended a man accused of operating an illegal child labour ring. The arrest marks the conclusion of an exhaustive manhunt that saw police teams scouring more than 200 villages across multiple districts over the past month.

The Case and Manhunt The accused had been on the run since a raid was conducted on a manufacturing unit where several minors were found working under hazardous conditions.

  • The Search: Given the suspect’s deep roots in the rural belt, he managed to evade capture by frequently shifting locations. Police established a special task force that systematically checked hideouts, relatives’ homes, and farmhouses in a radius covering 200 villages.

  • The Arrest: Based on a specific tip-off regarding his presence in a remote field, a coordinated raid was carried out in the early hours of Saturday, leading to his capture.

  • Charges: The accused faces multiple charges under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act and the Juvenile Justice Act, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation.

Administrative Action Senior police officials noted that this operation was part of a larger state-wide crackdown on industrial units and brick kilns suspected of employing minors. The police are now interrogating the suspect to identify other associates involved in the trafficking and employment of children.

The rescued children have been moved to shelter homes and are receiving medical care and counseling. The district administration is also facilitating their enrollment in local schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
