Haryana Crime: Gangsters Fire at Sonipat Car Showroom for Extortion

Sep 5, 2025 | Haryana

The industrial and commercial peace of Gohana was shattered today when unidentified miscreants carried out a daylight shootout at a local car showroom. The incident is being seen as a direct challenge to the Haryana Police by organized crime syndicates active in the region.

  • The Attack: According to eyewitnesses, two to three men arrived on a motorcycle with their faces covered. Without any warning, they pulled out weapons and fired several rounds at the front of the showroom. The bullets shattered the large glass panes and damaged some of the cars parked inside for sale.

  • Extortion Demand: After the firing, the attackers allegedly threw a slip of paper before fleeing the spot. The note contained a demand for several crores of rupees as “protection money.” It is suspected that the shooters belong to the Himanshu Bhau gang, which has been linked to similar extortion bids in Rohtak and Hisar recently.

  • Panic Among Traders: The sound of gunshots caused people in the nearby market to run for cover. Local business unions quickly gathered at the spot and raised slogans against the lack of security. “If showrooms are not safe in broad daylight, how can we run our businesses?” asked a local trader leader.

  • Police Action: Senior police officials from Sonipat reached the showroom and collected empty shell casings. Multiple teams, including the Crime Branch, have been formed to track the motorcycle used in the crime through CCTV footage from the surrounding streets.
