Haryana Cyber Crackdown: Nuh Police Arrest “Master Trainer” of OLX Scams

In a surgical strike against the growing cybercrime infrastructure in Mewat, the Nuh Cyber Cell has apprehended a key figure who acted as a “technical coach” for dozens of aspiring fraudsters. The arrest follows weeks of technical surveillance and intelligence gathering.

  • Modus Operandi: The arrested individual, whose identity has been kept confidential for further investigation, specialized in teaching youths how to bypass security checks on e-commerce platforms like OLX. He taught them how to create high-trust profiles using stolen identities and fake army personnel photos to lure victims.

  • Training Hub: Police discovered that the “master trainer” charged a commission or a fixed fee to train “recruits.” These training sessions included lessons on how to use voice-modulation apps, create fake “courier receipts,” and handle QR code scams to siphon money from victims’ bank accounts.

  • The OLX Scam: The most common tactic involved posting ads for popular SUVs or motorcycles at “too good to be true” prices. Once a buyer showed interest, the scammers—trained by this master—would demand “token money” or “security fees” under the guise of shipping or documentation.

  • Police Statement: “By arresting the trainer, we have cut off the supply of knowledge that was fueling dozens of small gangs in the area,” said a senior Nuh Police official. “We have seized multiple smartphones and diaries containing scripts used to talk to victims.”
