Taking a serious view of the laxity in administrative compliance, the Directorate of Elementary Education, Haryana, has issued a strict directive to all District Elementary Education Officers (DEEOs) to immediately update student attendance data on the “One School App Portal”. The department has set a final deadline of February 9 for officials to complete the data entry for the second, third, and fourth quarters of the academic session 2025-26.
The Director-General of Elementary Education warned that accountability would be fixed if any eligible student is deprived of financial assistance due to these lapses. The attendance data for students from Classes I to VIII is the mandatory basis for releasing funds under various state welfare schemes. “If attendance is not updated within the stipulated time, the responsibility will lie entirely with the Block Education Officer, school head, and class in-charge concerned,” the order stated.
The department noted that despite a previous directive issued on January 19—which set a deadline of January 27—several districts failed to upload the necessary records. The “One School App” was designed to bring transparency and real-time monitoring to school administration, but timely data entry remains a persistent challenge. Diljeet Singh, DEEO Rohtak, confirmed receipt of the orders and stated that all Block Education Officers in the district have been instructed to ensure immediate compliance to avoid punitive action.
