From the corridors of the Haryana Civil Secretariat to the smallest village schools in the hinterland, the words “We, the People of India” echoed across the state today as Haryana observed the 76th Constitution Day.

  • Ceremony at the Secretariat: Chief Secretary of Haryana led the preamble reading ceremony at the Main Secretariat in Chandigarh. Senior IAS and HCS officers, along with support staff, gathered in the central courtyard to take the constitutional pledge. Similar ceremonies were mirrored at the District Headquarters led by respective Deputy Commissioners.

  • School & College Participation: The Department of School Education had issued a mandatory directive for a special assembly in all 6,000+ government schools. Students participated in quiz competitions, essay writing on “The Spirit of the Constitution,” and debate competitions focused on the Fundamental Duties (Article 51A).

  • Focus on Fundamental Duties: Unlike previous years, this year’s observance saw a specific emphasis on the Fundamental Duties. Teachers and officials highlighted the importance of environmental protection and the promotion of harmony among all citizens as key civic responsibilities.

  • Judiciary Observance: The Punjab and Haryana High Court and all district courts in the state also held special sessions where judges and advocates read the Preamble, reaffirming their commitment to the rule of law and the constitutional mandate.
