Haryana Records 24% GST Growth in September

Sep 30, 2025 | Haryana

Haryana has solidified its position as one of India’s top five GST-contributing states, reporting its highest quarterly growth in the current financial year. The state’s economic resilience was on full display as it recorded the sharpest rise in revenue among all major Indian states.

  • The Numbers:

    • September 2024 Collection: ₹9,957 Crore.

    • September 2023 Collection: ₹8,009 Crore.

    • Growth Rate: 24% (The highest among major industrial states).

  • The “Gurugram” Factor: Nearly 65% of the state’s total GST revenue continues to be driven by just two districts: Gurugram (45%) and Faridabad (20%). The boom in the service sector, particularly IT/ITeS, and a surge in premium real estate transactions in Gurugram were cited as the primary engines of this growth.

  • Compliance Success: The Finance Department highlighted that the “Zero Tolerance” policy against fake invoicing and the implementation of real-time AI-based tracking of e-way bills have significantly curbed tax evasion. “Better compliance is not just about enforcement; it’s about simplifying the process for honest taxpayers,” said a senior official from the Excise and Taxation Department.

  • Regional Comparison: While larger states like Maharashtra and Gujarat recorded modest growth (5% and 0% respectively), Haryana’s 24% surge indicates a highly active domestic consumption and manufacturing base.

  • Quarterly Milestone: For the entire Q2 (July–September), the state has managed to stay well ahead of its budget targets, providing a strong fiscal cushion for the government’s upcoming infrastructure and welfare schemes.
