The Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula hosted a grand state-level function today to celebrate Teacher’s Day. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, along with senior education officials, presented the State Teacher Awards 2024 to 35 selected educators for their outstanding contribution to the field of education in Haryana.
-
The Ceremony: The Governor praised the teachers for their role as nation-builders. He highlighted that the state government is committed to providing quality education through schemes like e-Adhigam (free tablets) and the opening of Model Sanskriti Schools.
-
Inspirational Act: A rare moment of selflessness was witnessed when two of the award-winning teachers politely declined the cash prize of ₹1 lakh each. They requested the Governor and the Education Department to use those funds to provide better amenities—such as clean drinking water, school furniture, or library books—for their students.
-
Award Benefits: Under the Haryana government’s policy, the winners receive more than just the immediate prize. The 35 awardees are now eligible for two advance increments in their salary for the rest of their service and a certificate of merit that adds significant value to their professional record.
-
Focus on Quality: Education department officials noted that the selection process was rigorous, focusing on teachers who used innovative teaching methods, improved school results, and actively worked to reduce the dropout rate in rural areas of districts like Nuh, Sirsa, and Fatehabad.
