FARIDABAD (August 21): Haryana Tourism is set to light up the iconic Surajkund Mela grounds this autumn with the second edition of the Surajkund Diwali Mela. Following the massive success of its debut, the department has finalized plans for a 6-day “Deepotsav” starting October 2, aimed at making the region a premier festive destination.
Grand Festivities: Unlike the February Crafts Mela, the Deepotsav will focus on the theme “We Unite Families.” The highlight will be a mesmerizing evening display where thousands of traditional oil lamps will illuminate the ancient reservoir.
Commercial & Cultural Hub: The Mela will host over 500 stalls featuring handicrafts, traditional festive attire, and regional delicacies. It also provides a dedicated platform for local artists from the Delhi-NCR region to showcase cultural performances and live music.
Tourism Strategy: Nodal officers confirmed that tickets will be priced at ₹100, with a 50% discount for students. By hosting this event, the government hopes to replicate the 1.3 million visitor footfall seen during the international fair earlier this year.
Inauguration: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is expected to inaugurate the festival, which aligns with the state’s vision to promote local artisans and provide affordable festive shopping for citizens.
