Haryana Transport Boost: 50 New HVAC Buses Launched for Long Routes

Dec 5, 2025 | Haryana

The iconic blue-and-white fleet of Haryana Roadways received a significant “cool” upgrade today as the state government introduced 50 high-tech HVAC buses to its active service.

  • Enhanced Passenger Comfort: Unlike the standard non-AC buses, these new HVAC units are designed to maintain a stable cabin temperature regardless of the extreme North Indian weather. The buses feature wider legroom, semi-reclining seats, and individual charging ports for passengers.

  • Safety and Technology: Each bus is integrated with the Integrated Central Monitoring System, which includes GPS tracking, panic buttons for women’s safety, and CCTV cameras. “Safety is as important as comfort. These buses are also equipped with fire detection and suppression systems,” the Transport Minister noted during the inauguration.

  • Strategic Routes: The 50 buses have been distributed among various depots including Ambala, Hisar, Rohtak, and Gurugram. They will primarily serve long-distance routes exceeding 250 km, ensuring that passengers on 6-to-8-hour journeys experience minimal fatigue.

  • Affordable Luxury: The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to the “common man,” stating that the fares for these HVAC buses would be significantly lower than private Volvo operators while offering comparable comfort.

  • Expanding the Fleet: This launch is the first phase of a plan to add 500 new buses to the Haryana Roadways fleet by mid-2026. The department is also looking into the induction of electric HVAC buses for shorter NCR routes in the next fiscal year.
