The dream of connecting Haryana directly to global destinations moved closer to reality today as the Civil Aviation Minister reviewed the final stages of the Hisar Airport expansion project.
-
Runway Readiness: The Minister inspected the newly extended runway, which has been lengthened to 10,000 feet. This critical upgrade will allow the airport to handle large international carriers like the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350. “The structural work on the runway is 95% complete. We are now moving into the phase of installing advanced night-landing systems and CAT-III signaling,” the Minister stated.
-
Terminal and Infrastructure: Beyond the runway, the inspection covered the new integrated passenger terminal. The Minister directed officials to ensure that the immigration and customs counters are ready by February 2026 to facilitate a smooth transition to international status.
-
April 2026 Deadline: Addressing the media, the Minister confirmed that the first set of international flights—likely connecting Hisar to Middle Eastern and South Asian hubs—will begin in April 2026. Domestic flights to major Indian metros are expected to increase even sooner.
-
Regional Impact: The project is a centerpiece of the state’s strategy to develop an Integrated Aviation Hub. The Minister emphasized that the airport would serve as a “cargo gateway,” supporting the local industries of Hisar, Panipat, and Rohtak.
-
Review of Connectivity: Discussions were also held regarding the high-speed rail and road connectivity between Hisar Airport and the Delhi-NCR region to ensure seamless travel for passengers coming from the national capital.
