The Nuh police have struck a major blow against the illegal weapon supply chain in the Mewat region by unearthing a clandestine manufacturing facility. The operation highlights the persistent challenge of “home-grown” weapon production in the district’s difficult terrain.
-
The Discovery: The unit was ingeniously concealed in an underground cellar beneath an animal fodder shed in a village near the Rajasthan border. This setup allowed the criminals to operate heavy drilling machinery without the noise attracting the attention of local villagers or passing patrols.
-
The Seizure: During the raid, police confiscated:
-
20 finished country-made pistols (various calibers).
-
15 semi-finished frames and steel pipes used for barrels.
-
A lathe machine, welding equipment, and grinders.
-
Multiple live cartridges and springs.

Supply Network: Initial interrogation of the arrested suspect revealed that the factory had been active for several months. The weapons were being sold at prices ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹5,000, making them a popular choice for street-level criminals, robbers, and carjackers in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Delhi.

Police Action: “This was a highly organized setup. They were using high-quality scrap metal and modern power tools to improve the accuracy of these ‘kattas’. We are now tracing the source of their raw materials and the middlemen who facilitate the sales,” a senior police official stated.
