Industrial Hubs of Faridabad and Gurugram Celebrate Vishwakarma Day

The rhythmic hum of machinery was replaced by the chanting of mantras today as Haryana’s industrial heartland celebrated the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma. The festival serves as a unique bridge between divinity and industry, honoring the dignity of labor and craftsmanship.

  • Rituals on the Shop Floor: In thousands of factories, production lines were cleaned, decorated with marigold garlands, and applied with traditional tilak. Mechanics, engineers, and laborers participated in Hawan ceremonies conducted right on the factory floors. Following age-old tradition, tools and machines were “rested” for the day after the puja.

  • Corporate Participation: Major plants, including those of Maruti Suzuki and various auto-ancillary units in the NCR, organized mass puja ceremonies. Senior management joined the workforce in offering prayers for a safe and accident-free working year.

  • Government Support for Artisans: CM Nayab Saini marked the day in Kurukshetra by launching the Mukhyamantri Vishwakarma Samman Yojana. Under this scheme, artisans who complete skill training receive a top-up incentive of ₹5,000, reinforcing the state’s focus on “vocal for local” and traditional skill development.

  • Community Feasts: Beyond the factories, local worker colonies and industrial sectors hosted large-scale Bhandaras. In Faridabad’s Sector 24 and 25, several industry associations distributed sweets and meals to thousands of migrant workers, celebrating the community’s collective contribution to Haryana’s economy.
