The countdown to one of the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gatherings has begun. The Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) finalized the roadmap for the International Gita Mahotsav 2025 today, promising a celebration of unprecedented scale.

  • Key Dates: The main events of the Mahotsav will run from November 28 to December 15, with the core spiritual ceremonies (Gita Jayanti) peaking on December 5.

  • The MP Connection: By selecting Madhya Pradesh as the partner state, the organizers aim to highlight the shared spiritual heritage of India. “The inclusion of MP brings the vibrancy of the Malwa and Bundelkhand regions to the banks of Brahma Sarovar. We expect a large contingent of artists and craftsmen from Indore, Ujjain, and Bhopal,” an official spokesperson stated.

  • Global Footprint: Keeping up with its “International” tag, the Mahotsav will host representatives from several countries, with Tanzania and Australia having expressed interest in previous editions. Special “Gita Seminars” will be held at Kurukshetra University, featuring scholars from across the globe.

  • Major Attractions:

    • Craft Mela: Over 600 craftsmen from across India will display their handiwork.

    • Gita Paath: A world-record attempt for collective Gita Shlokas recitation by 18,000 students.

    • Light & Sound Show: A revamped digital storytelling of the Mahabharata on the waters of the Sarovar.

  • Infrastructure Readiness: In light of the recent “Zero Pothole Drive” on GT Road, the administration is confident of managing the 30-40 lakh pilgrims expected during the 18-day festival.

Community Sentiment

“Gita Mahotsav is the time when Kurukshetra truly feels like the spiritual capital of the world. Having Madhya Pradesh as a partner state is exciting because we will get to see the famous Mahakal-style art and food here in Haryana. It’s a great way to unite the country through our shared roots,” said a local priest at Jyotisar.
