A 17-year-old Class XII student, identified as Punit, reportedly died by suicide at his residence in Dubaldhan village (Beri sub-division) on Sunday night. The police suspect academic stress as the primary cause behind the extreme step.

Discovery: The body was discovered around 9:30 PM on Sunday by the victim’s grandmother. Punit was reportedly alone at home at the time of the incident.

Police Action: The family rushed Punit to a hospital in Beri, where doctors declared him dead. The police were informed by a passerby/family member, and the body was handed over to the kin after a postmortem examination on Monday.

Investigation Investigating Officer Sandeep Kumar from the Beri police station confirmed that inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 of the BNSS (corresponding to Section 174 of CrPC). The police are verifying all angles, though no suicide note was reportedly recovered at the scene.
