A pall of gloom has descended upon Gijarod village in the Jhajjar district following the tragic death of Sepoy Mohit (25), who was among the 10 Indian Army personnel killed in a road accident in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
The Incident

Accident: An Army vehicle (Casspir troop carrier) carrying 21 soldiers skidded off the road near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road and plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge due to slippery conditions.

Casualties: 10 soldiers, including Mohit, lost their lives, while 11 others were injured.
About the Soldier

Background: Mohit had joined the Army five years ago. He was the elder of two sons; his father, Satpal, is a farmer.

Family: He was married recently in November 2024 and had last visited his village on leave around his first wedding anniversary.

Mourning: The village sarpanch, Naresh Kumar, confirmed that the family was informed on Thursday evening. His mortal remains are expected to reach the village on Friday afternoon for last rites with full military honours.
