The deepening crisis of fertilizer shortage in Haryana sparked fresh protests in Jind on August 9, as frustrated farmers gathered at the local administrative complex to demand immediate intervention. A delegation of farmers met the Tehsildar, urging the administration to ensure a steady supply of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) to the region.
๐ The Crisis: Long Queues & Empty Hands The shortage of DAP, a critical nutrient for crop development, has left the farming community in distress.

The Demand: During the meeting with the Tehsildar, farmers alleged that despite government claims of adequate stock, cooperative societies are running dry.

Black Marketing: The delegation raised serious concerns about private dealers hoarding stocks and selling bags at inflated rates (up to โน1,800-โน1,900 against the official rate of โน1,350), forcing desperate farmers to buy from the black market.
๐ Ultimatum Issued Farmers warned the Tehsildar that if the supply chain is not restored within two days, they will be forced to escalate their agitation. “We are spending our days in lines instead of in the fields. If the administration does not act, we will block the main roads,” stated a farmer leader emerging from the meeting.
Officials have assured the delegation that fresh rakes of fertilizer are expected to arrive soon and distribution will be monitored to prevent pilferage.
