High drama was witnessed in a village in Jind today when a local Sarpanch took a bold stand against the area’s MLA during a public function. The incident, captured on mobile phones and widely shared online, highlights the growing frustration among rural representatives regarding stalled development works.
-
The Confrontation: The MLA had arrived in the village to attend a scheduled program and was about to address the residents from the stage. However, as soon as he picked up the microphone, the Sarpanch stood up and stopped him.
-
Refusal to Let Speak: In the viral footage, the Sarpanch is seen telling the MLA that there is “no point in making speeches” when the village is suffering. He flatly refused to let the politician speak, stating that the leaders only visit during elections but forget their promises afterward.
-
Unpaved Streets Issue: The main point of contention was the condition of the village roads. The Sarpanch claimed that despite multiple requests and complaints, the streets remain unpaved (katcha) and filled with mud, making it difficult for school children and the elderly to walk.
-
Public Support: The villagers present at the spot were seen supporting their Sarpanch, echoing his concerns about the lack of basic infrastructure. The MLA and his supporters eventually had to leave the venue as the protest intensified.
