Karnal School Honours 10 Girls on Kalpana Chawla’s 23rd Death Anniversary

To commemorate the 23rd death anniversary of the illustrious astronaut Kalpana Chawla, her alma mater, Tagore Baal Niketan Senior Secondary School, organized a solemn tribute ceremony on Monday. During the event, the school honoured 10 meritorious girl students with the prestigious Kalpana Chawla Award for their outstanding academic achievements.

Each student was presented with a cheque of ₹25,000, with the total scholarship amount standing at ₹2.50 lakh. The awards were sponsored by Rupa & Company, Delhi, through the ND Mehra Memorial Trust, which has been supporting this initiative annually to encourage girl child education. The parents of the awardees were specially invited to witness the honour being bestowed upon their daughters.

Aditi, Managing Director of Karnal Sugar Mill and Estate Officer of HSVP, graced the occasion as the chief guest. She paid floral tributes to the late astronaut and addressed the gathering, urging the students to emulate Kalpana Chawla’s spirit of exploration and resilience. “Kalpana proved that with determination, even the sky is not the limit,” she remarked. School Principal Dr. Rajan Lamba and Director RM Raheja expressed their gratitude to the sponsors for keeping Kalpana’s legacy alive and motivating the next generation of women achievers.
