The KMP Expressway, often dubbed the “Millennium Highway,” became a scene of a violent robbery tonight, raising fresh concerns about commuter safety on the peripheral expressway.
-
The Incident: Around 7:45 PM, a Delhi-based businessman was driving his premium SUV toward Palwal. Near the Tauru interchange, a silver-colored sedan began tailing him and eventually brushed against the side of his vehicle.
-
The “Chilli” Tactic: When the victim stopped to check the damage, the suspects surrounded the car. One of the men hurled a concentrated mixture of red chilli powder directly into the victim’s face. While he was incapacitated by the pain, the others threatened him at gunpoint and snatched the keys.
-
The Escape: The robbers fled in two vehicles—the victim’s SUV and their own getaway car. The victim managed to reach a nearby PCR (Police Control Room) van with the help of a passing trucker.
-
Police Investigation: * Roadblocks: “Nakabandi” (checkpoints) have been set up at the Manesar, Sohna, and Palwal exit points.
-
CCTV Tracking: Police are examining footage from the Kherki Daula and Panchgaon toll plazas to identify the getaway vehicle’s registration number.
-
Forensic Team: A forensic team was sent to the spot to collect samples of the chilli powder and any fingerprints left at the scene.
