In a major victory for examination integrity, Mahendragarh’s Special Staff and local police units busted a gang specializing in “invisible” cheating hardware. The operation highlights the increasingly tech-savvy methods used by “paper-solver” mafias in the region.
-
The Modus Operandi: The “Bluetooth Chappal” (slipper) contains a hollowed-out sole housing a battery, a SIM card slot, and a Bluetooth transmitter. A candidate wears a skin-colored micro-earpiece, while an accomplice outside calls the number in the slipper to dictate answers during the exam.
-
The Arrests: Police arrested three key members of the gang near the Narnaul bypass. Along with four pairs of specialized slippers, officers seized several micro-earpieces, mobile phones, and a list of prospective “clients” who had allegedly paid advance amounts for the devices.
-
Financial Scale: Investigations revealed that the gang charged between ₹3 lakh and ₹5 lakh per candidate. The price included the hardware and the “service” of an external expert who would provide the answer key via the covert audio link.
-
Security Implications: “This is a sophisticated design meant to evade standard frisking. We have shared the details with the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) to ensure that invigilators are trained to check footwear more thoroughly in future exams,” stated a senior police official.
Community Sentiment
“It’s alarming how far people will go to cheat. These gangs exploit the desperation of youth for government jobs. While the police did a great job, it makes us wonder how many people have already successfully used such devices in previous tests,” said a local education activist in Mahendragarh.
