Mewat: Underground Arms Factory Busted; 20 Pistols Seized by Police

Dec 27, 2025 | Haryana

In a major breakthrough against the proliferation of illegal weapons, the Nuh Police today successfully neutralized an underground arms manufacturing unit operating in a remote village of the Mewat region.

  • The Operation: Acting on a specific intelligence tip-off about a secret workshop producing “Desi Kattas” (country-made pistols), a specialized team led by senior police officials conducted a pre-dawn raid. The factory was hidden in a concealed basement of a nondescript residential building on the outskirts of the village.

  • Seizures and Arrests:

    • Weapons: Police recovered 20 finished country-made pistols (various calibers) ready for distribution.

    • Machinery: The unit was equipped with sophisticated lathes, grinding machines, drill presses, and high-quality raw materials (steel pipes and triggers) used for crafting firearms.

    • Arrests: Three individuals found at the spot were arrested. They are suspected to be master craftsmen who have been supplying illegal arms to gangs across Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

  • The Modus Operandi: Preliminary investigations reveal that the factory was operating during the night hours to avoid suspicion. The finished products were being sold for prices ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000, depending on the quality and the customer.

  • Police Statement: “This is a significant hit to the illegal arms supply chain in the NCR. These weapons often end up in the hands of petty criminals and gangsters. We are now investigating the ‘forward and backward’ linkages—who were their buyers and from where did they source the high-grade steel,” said the SP of Nuh.

  • Intensified Vigilance: Following this bust, police have increased patrolling and search operations in neighboring villages known for history of illegal weapon manufacturing. The arrested suspects have been booked under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the BNS.

  • Public Cooperation: Police have appealed to local residents to report any suspicious activities or unusual noises coming from residential or farm buildings, promising that the identity of informants will remain strictly confidential.
