Multiple IAS Batches Promoted in Haryana

Jan 2, 2026 | Haryana

In a major New Year administrative reshuffle and promotion exercise, the Haryana Government has issued orders for the elevation of several Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across various batches. The promotions, which come into effect immediately, recognize the seniority and service records of officers from the 1991, 2010, and 2013 batches.

  • Senior Elevations (1991 Batch): Officers from the 1991 batch have been promoted to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). This elevation places them in the highest echelon of the state’s bureaucracy, where they will lead major departments and shape key policy decisions.

  • Middle-Level Promotions:

    • 2010 Batch: Officers from this batch have been promoted to the Selection Grade, a move that often precedes their appointment as Secretaries or Commissioners in the state government.

    • 2013 Batch: These officers have been promoted to the Junior Administrative Grade (JAG), marking a significant step in their careers as they move into more senior supervisory roles in the districts and departments.

  • Proforma Promotions: The government also granted proforma promotions to IAS officers who are currently on central deputation or serving with other organizations. This ensures that their seniority and pay scales remain aligned with their peers serving within the state.

  • Significance of the Move: Coming at the start of the 2026 calendar year, these promotions are expected to be followed by a comprehensive reshuffle of departmental portfolios. The elevation of these officers is aimed at strengthening the administrative machinery as the state prepares to execute the ambitious targets outlined in the CM’s New Year vision.

  • Official Notification: The orders were issued by the Chief Secretary of Haryana, following the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). The officers will continue to hold their current charges until specific transfer and posting orders are issued in the coming days.
